These chess pieces are very high quality and nicely weighted. They would be perfect...but unfortunately one of the black queens is broken and so having to return them. Update: I returned the set and ordered another one. This time one of the pawns was damaged. For this reason I have to drop the rating to 3 stars.Show more

The chess pieces offer great value and are nicely weighted. Comes nicely packaged with the color pieces in their separate bags. Although not as detailed as other higher value Staunton pieces, they are well made. The chessboard I made shows the pieces (King 3.75") on 2" squares. I wouldn't use a chessboard smaller than 2" squares - probably 2 1/4" would work better. I would definitely re-order/recommend this to others.Show more

First of all, two of the pieces were chipped fresh out of the box. Secondly, I bought this set because I needed a replacement pawn and these looked as similar in style and quality as I could find. I bought it because the pawns are advertised as 1.5 inches tall. They are not. In the picture you can see my original piece (which is 1.5 inches) for comparison. The broken pawn is from the new set. It's much smaller. Not a full 1.5 inches. I can't showcase these chess pieces, it's embarrassing... The knight pieces aren't even fully laquered! Not worth the premium price.Show more

Good quality, smooth wood, green baize bottom so they can slide cleanly. Pawns are light but other pieces have a nice bit of weight. Perfect size (us dollar for scale). Comes with one black & white velvet bag for storage and came in very nice box (which I re-used as a box for a scarf for my mom’s bday present- she commented on how lovely the box was - I think she liked the box more than the scarf!)Show more

I purchased the pieces to go on an onyx chess board I bought in Mexico. I did not want cheap pieces for it and I needed a solid feel during play. These pieces filled the need.
